OUR CATTERY FACILITIES
Most of our cats are kept indoors in our
home.
Helo (our stud) lives outside in a shed-sized
cage on our deck. Stud tomcats will spray their
territory, especially when they smell girls in heat!
The queens run free indoors except while
pregnant. When they start getting territorial and
acting ready to build their nest, we move them into our
Queening room. There are tree large cages which can
hold momma, kittens, a litter box and drinking fountain.
When kittens start walking, they come out for
adventures. Eventually they get the run of the house
for a little while before they're ready to go to their new
homes. This helps to socialize them by introducing
lots of new cats, people, sights, and sounds.
We have a separate garage which is used as an
isolation room when we're bringing in new cats. The
garage is detached from our house and has its own heat and
A/c, so it's very well isolated from the rest of the cat
population.
We're building a new detached building for
queens and kittens, and we're really excited that we'll have
more room!
